Silent white

If color could be a sound, white would be silence.
Experiencing abundant snow as it is falling and gathering is so much more profound than any images or written/verbal descriptions.
And at the end of this colorless, soundless vacuum, hand-pulled noodle soup.

Homage to color

Since I saw the Bauhaus exhibit at the MoMA a couple weeks ago I've been thinking non-stop about Josef Albers.

Color fields

Helga Steppan

In this series called 'See Through,' Swedish artist Helga Steppan did an audit of all her belongings, divided them according to color and then photographed them. More here. via designer's library

Shake it

I like Grant Hamilton's Polaroid work very much. I don't think his Flickr page is the most ideal place for them though. I prefer a more minimalist experience, so best to view the series as a conceptual whole here. More Albers than Rothko, I think; I always love a solid homage to colors and lines, simple shapes and compositions. His upcoming show in Seattle features GINORMOUS Polaroids which I'd like to see in person, or maybe just learn how to make 'em. Now, allow me to douse you in some of my favorites:

Until next year, yellow/orange/red

It's been awhile. I come back only to bid a fond farewell to a really lovely autumn season and all its colors. oh, colors! I will fill this studio with love again, soon. We are off to warmer climates (aka California) on Saturday. It was a really hectic November... tested out new waters and much to my surprise, found it enjoyable.
